Immersive open-world 3D platforming game
Jumps is a premium action game made by developer Kiwiforge. It is a first-person 3D platformer that has players traverse through small islands in the sky. They will do so by making long-distance jumps while being aware of the time limit and the number of times allowable.
Similar to Mirror's Edge Catalyst or Get To The Orange Door, Jumps takes cues from parkour mechanics and incorporates them seamlessly into the core gameplay. A demo version is available for those looking to try it first before deciding if they want to purchase the full game.
Lots of air time
Jumps initially stands out as a platforming game for its first-person perspective, which immediately makes the whole experience far more immersive than its third-person, side-scrolling contemporaries. When you add in the fact that it takes place in the sky, it then becomes quite a thrill ride for both fans and newcomers alike. A vibrant art style and polygon graphics round out its distinct presentation.
True to its name, you will be leaping from one small island to the next. There are six distinct worlds to explore that feature 10 levels each. The gameplay is easy enough to learn, but the game then introduces various factors to the mix, such as a time limit and a specific number of times you can jump to finish each level.
As mentioned earlier, there are also parkour elements in the gameplay, and you will be exercising this as you master using cannons, rockets, trampolines, and many other various jump platforms that help propel you. There are some difficulty spikes that happen on some levels, though, and this can sour the experience a little bit, especially given the already steep learning curve to begin with.
Tough but fun
Overall, Jumps is a pretty enjoyable first-person platforming game with plenty of style and fun mechanics. There are plenty of worlds and levels to explore and the various jump platforms available offer variety and challenge to the gameplay. While it can be a bit tricky to learn at first, stick with it, and you will be bouncing off islands in no time. Recommended.
